Hello Cougar Parents,

   May madness is upon us. Before we know it, it’s the end of the school year. We have teacher appreciation week, Art A La Carte, Field Day, and End of the Year class party. It is indeed going to be a busy month!

   Hands-on-Science had to be a take-home kit for the spring session but that did not dampen the enthusiasm shown by our students. Our CWE PTA FB page was overwhelmed with wonderful pictures of the kids sharing the results of their experiments. WATCH DOGS, time and time again, has proved that we have outstanding dads willing to help at school. Thank you to all for supporting our Spirit Night last month at both Magpies and Mod Pizza. 

   Every year we face new challenges and draw from our previous experience and expertise to successfully maneuver our path in the right direction. Our PTA always aims to bring out each kid's potential in our school. This year was no different. We try our best to help the teachers, our school, and the administration to achieve this. We couldn’t have done it without the help of all our parents, who selflessly gave their time, energy, and donations toward the same cause. We thank each of you for your support this year and hope to see the same in the coming year.

   For my final note, I am sad to see some of our amazing board members leave because of either rezoning or having their fifth graders graduate. Each of these board members helped to make this year a successful one for our PTA. I wish all of them the best and thank every board member from the bottom of my heart for making my first year as president so memorable.

Hello parents, we are excited to invite you for a super creative and fun art activity. This time around, kids will learn about the work and art style of Alma Thomas. Each student will create their own art work inspired by Alma Thomas.

Kinder,1^st and 2^nd grade will need parents’ participation so look out for sign-up genius by the last week of April.

Grade 3^rd 4^th and 5^th will be administered by teachers.

Here are the additional wonderful teacher appreciation events planned for May:

May 8 - Rise and Shine breakfast event - This event is being sponsored by University Pediatric Dentistry. Thanks to Dr. Urvi Jadav for always generously supporting CWE. 

May 10 - Sailing into Summer Sundae Bar - We will treat our teachers and staff with ice cream sundae. Thank you parents for donating items for the sundae bar. Your generous contributions throughout the year have helped make all our events successful.

May 12 - Grab and Go breakfast- Our teachers and staff love breakfast events. What a great way to start a day with quick grab and go breakfast!

May 17 - End of The Year Luncheon - We have planned a nice end of the year luncheon. Thank you WATCH DOGS, room reps and PTA board members for assuming recess and lunch duty. Teachers and staff would get a relief from their daily routine to enjoy this luncheon.

May 17 - Secret Pals Reveal (pic day) - Secret pals will reveal themselves to teachers and staff during end of the year luncheon.

STAAR snack bags prepared by the PTA teacher appreciation team to support our beloved teachers and staff. 

Please extend a huge congratulations and thank you to our amazing VIPS of the month for March: Na Zhang!!!! 

Na has put in numerous hours all year working to put our yearbook together. From gathering pictures to marketing the sales to designing the pages, we thank you for creating such a special memoir for our community. Thank you, Na!

Congratulations to our April VIPS of the month: Sachi Sharma! 

Sachi spent numerous hours organizing and planning our Art a la Carte program. We appreciate you giving our kids a hands on way to learn about artists and their techniques. Sachi is also a room rep, and has spent time assisting her classroom and class parties. We appreciate you!

We also want to acknowledge our May VIPS of the month: Casey Flatt!

Throughout April and May, Casey has donated hours and hours of her time to make Field Day happen for our school. Thank you for stepping in to ensure this fun and well-loved day wraps up the 2022-2023 school year.

Rimple Patel has been a constant volunteer at CWE. From room rep, to spirit wear, to world culture day, Rimple has donated so much time to our community. Thank you!

THANK YOU CWE VOLUNTEERS!! I wish we could formally recognize each and every one of you. Our many programs and activities could nor be without your generosity and support. Thank you for giving so much of your time and energy to make the 2022-2023 year amazing.

Just a reminder to make sure you have your district background check prior to volunteering with Commonwealth. We need you and your skills and are so appreciative of all of our volunteers. Volunteers are part of what makes Commonwealth such an amazing school!

As we get to the end of the school year, just a quick reminder to get your reimbursements in! PTA rules means we can not reimburse after June, and we want to make sure everything is accurate and repaid before the end of June! 

After logging into your account on the PTA website, you can find the Reimbursement Form at the bottom of My Account page.

Quick note: Feel free to estimate the total hours for the month and just submit one entry. This is how most people submit hours. Entering per day is fine as well. Please use the method that is easiest for you.
