Hello Cougar Parents,

We are almost reaching the end of the school year and the last few weeks will be no different from our past weeks, packed with everything exciting from STAAR testing to teacher appreciation week to Field Day to Art A La Carte. 

Between two days, we had more than 400 dads attending the “Donuts with Dads” event.  What an amazing turnout! We are so thankful that so many of you came and enjoyed a fun time with our children. Our Parent Breakfast Chair Rita did a wonderful job putting this event together.

I would like to congratulate Yulin Xuan for being chosen as the VIPS of the year. She is our First VP for Events and has always worked tirelessly for every event to be successful. She is always enthusiastic and goes the extra mile to ensure the events run smoothly. Her goal has always been to give the best for our kids. She is truly an asset to the CWE PTA.

In this newsletter, we are also including the flyer from the ASE PTA. We are truly sad to see some of our cougar parents and amazing volunteers and volunteer leaders move to ASE but nonetheless, we want the best for our kids. Do contact them if you are interested in the open positions available on the ASE PTA Board or if you are interested in volunteering.

We had another successful Secret Pals event on March 28. Thank you parents who participated in this event. All our teachers and staff received a nice surprise gift. Thank you for your support. 

STAAR Snacks - Teacher appreciation team made 100 STAAR snack bags to all our teachers and staff. Thank you parents for generously supporting teacher appreciation events. 

Spring Luncheon - We will be hosting a spring luncheon on April 12. We will get catering from our sponsor Ori Zaba’s Mexican Grill. Thank you, Ms. Jennifer Claus, catering manager at Ori Zaba’s Mexican Grill for giving us an excellent catering service.

Thank you to all who contributed to our toiletry drive. We continue to be amazed by the generosity of CWE parents. There are 40,000 students in FBISD who are identified as being in need of support, and we donated around $2,150 of toiletries to support them. Thank you Cougars!

Hello parents, we are excited to invite you for a super creative and fun art activity. Kids will learn about the artist and their work. Each student will create their own art work inspired by the artist’s style.

With your help, it will be super fun. Kinder,1^st and 2^nd grade will need parents’ participation so look out for sign-up genius by the last week of April.

Grade 3^rd 4^th and 5^th will be administered by teachers.

A huge THANK YOU to Susana Luehrs for all of her work organizing World Culture Day. Susana led her team to provide food trucks and cultural performances during the Spring Open House. She also worked hard on the in-class lessons on diversity and different countries and organized decorating the school with the students' projects on their country. It took many hours and juggling lots of pieces to put this amazing event together, and we appreciate all the time you devoted to supporting CWE!

Just a reminder to make sure you have your district background check prior to volunteering with Commonwealth. We need you and your skills and are so appreciative of all of our volunteers. Volunteers are part of what makes Commonwealth such an amazing school!

As we get to the end of the school year, just a quick reminder to get your reimbursements in! PTA rules means we can not reimburse after June, and we want to make sure everything is accurate and repaid before the end of June! 

After logging into your account on the PTA website, you can find the Reimbursement Form at the bottom of My Account page.

Quick note: Feel free to estimate the total hours for the month and just submit one entry. This is how most people submit hours. Entering per day is fine as well. Please use the method that is easiest for you.
